First Day in Guatemala City,Guatemala!
We have arrived!!! We had a great journey over to Guatemala City today. We started out at 7 a.m. and started our way through check in and customs. We stopped inside the Atlanta airport and ate breakfast as a group, our last American meal for a week!! We then boarded the flight and in 3 hours 45 minutes we arrived at our destination, Guatemala City!! We then connected with the Doctors we will be working with here at the ministry. Our first prayer meeting was in the car as we asked God to spare us with all the crazy traffic and driving skills of our designated chauffeur:) We then had a mini meeting to get us fired up for what our week will look like and in what ways we will be ministering in the local villages and how the health clinic will function. The main pastor Hermann, told us to not think of our time here necessarily as a mission trip but more as a "date with Jesus". He said to "have fun" and not to worry about daily distractions that we have back at home hindering us from serving others here.
Then we took a "memorable" trip to Price Right which is basically a Costco in the U.S. We loaded up with food for the week and possibly food to fill up a whole village:)!! For dinner, we had a woman from a local church come and fix us a traditional Guatemalan dinner...it was DELICIOUS!!! We then had a wrap up meeting to discuss details, and prayed that God would bless our time here and that he would use us in great and mighty ways for his Glory this week. We start our day out tomorrow at 5:45 a.m.!!! It will be a full day of people stationed at the "Gospel station" , "Pharmacy Station", and "Kids Station". Everyone is in good health and good spirits! We are all excited to be here and ready for the journey to begin tomorrow!!
